Any highway, interstate, or busy roadway you take in Florida all have one thing in common: too many drivers. And of course, with too many drivers, comes too many auto accidents. It seems that at any time of day, we’re sitting in traffic only to find there’s been another car accident in Florida.
Dr. Harley Bofshever has an impressive trajectory as a Broward chiropractor, helping thousands of people live healthier, pain-free lives. While each of his patients visits his wellness center in Coconut Creek for a variety of reasons, ALL of his car accident patients have similar aches and pains – and similar questions about what to do to treat car accident injuries.
As a leading Broward County chiropractor, Dr. Harley, owner and founder of Coconut Creek chiropractic office, Broward Spine and Joint Rehabilitation, sees his fair share of auto accident injuries. From the severe, to the minor aches and pains, you can bet that anyone who has been involved in a wreck should visit chiropractor after a car accident, no matter the severity of the accident.
Whether or not you seek chiropractic care for accident injuries, however, there three things you MUST know about auto accidents in south Florida.
- Symptoms do not always immediately present themselves.
Have you ever gone to the gym for a really strenuous workout and realized that you didn’t feel the “burn,” or that post-workout soreness, until a few days later? Car accident injuries, or symptoms related to your wreck, have been known to sneak up on their victim days following the collision. Often times, people will go about their daily lives and routines without being checked for injuries, not realizing the added stress they’re putting on their bodies. It is critically important to seek medical attention after any car accident, whether big or small, to ensure that a minor issue doesn’t become a major one down the road.
- Your time is ticking…
New laws in Florida say that you must take action quickly after a car accident if you plan on filing suit to collect on your injuries or damages.
According to an article on Legal Match, “Under Florida’s new Personal Injury Protection (PIP) law, an injured driver must seek treatment within fourteen days to receive PIP benefits. If you have PIP automobile insurance, you should consult your family doctor or go to an emergency room as soon as possible—even if you do not think your injuries are severe. Some injuries do not manifest themselves immediately after an accident. You do not want to be prevented from recovering PIP benefits because of this technicality. If you were a passenger in an accident, you should also immediately seek medical treatment. Passengers are also entitled to PIP benefits. If the driver you were riding with had PIP automobile insurance at the time of the accident, you should be able to recover for your injuries.”
- Whiplash is one of the most common car accident injuries.
Whiplash is to car accidents what trans fats are to cholesterol – a guarantee. Thankfully, chiropractic care for whiplash go together like peanut butter and jelly. Whiplash is an injury to the neck muscles from rapid forward and backward motion of the neck caused by a trauma. It can cause acute neck pain as well as restricted movement in your neck.
As reported by Spineuniverse.com, “Soon after whiplash occurs—in the acute phase—the chiropractor will work on reducing neck inflammation using various therapy modalities (eg, ultrasound). He or she may also use gentle stretching and manual therapy techniques (eg, muscle energy therapy, a type of stretching).”
